The Dorfhotel Sylt caters to families with children (of all ages). Therefore, we chose to rent the Apartement Type 2 with a living room plus a fully equipped kitchen on the lower level, and an additional bedroom one flight of stairs above the kitchen and living room. As grandparents, travelling with grandchildren and their parents, this gave us all enough breathing space and the possibility to cook our meals.
Despite it being Year 2010, the personnel did not offer to speak English! The majority of guests were Germans, yet we feel that the Management must realize that it is necessary to train their personnel in English, so that they will be able to converse with guests coming from abroad. Everybody has questions and those need to be addressed in the English language, so that the guest will understand and feel respected.

The bed. We were not able to sleep on that hard mattress. Far away from all attractions. You have to have a car or go by bus. The pool was closed.

The spacious and well-equipped rooms were perfect for a relaxing stay. The spa facilities, including the sauna and pool, were top-notch and provided a great way to unwind. The hotel's central location made it easy to explore the nearby area and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating, which made for a pleasant stay.
The restaurant was a bit disappointing, as the food quality did not match the hotel's overall excellence. the beds could use some improvement, as they were not as comfortable as expected.

We had a great time at the hotel! Loved the location, just a short walk to the beach and with bus connections nearby. the rooms were big enough and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. the indoor pool and the games were a lot of fun for our family, and the chefs at the buffet were really friendly. Speaking of the buffet, the dinner had a good variety of food which we enjoyed.
One thing we didn't like was that check-out time was at 10am with no option for an extension. we were disappointed that there were not enough kids' bikes available for rental.

We had a fantastic time at a family-friendly hotel in a quiet part of Sylt. The staff were welcoming and made our daughter feel special. The kid's program provided fun activities and there were two playgrounds on site. The food was delicious, especially the breakfast with a wide variety of options. The swimming pools and sauna area were a hit with both adults and children. The location was convenient, with easy access to the beach and nearby attractions. The rooms were cozy and equipped with everything we needed, including a wood-burning stove and a balcony or terrace. we highly recommend this hotel for families with young children.
